“Every Artomic Deserves its Own Movie & Soundtrack” : Retroverse’s Afterthought & Aftermovie Premier

A little over a month has passed since a “Party Under The Moonlight” – Artomic Retroverse 2024 was held in SMA Pembangunan Jaya Sidoarjo. The almost-one-year long worth of effort event was finally coming to an end. On Thursday, June 20th, the last and final evaluation/meeting of the Retroverse’s was held together with the premier of this year’s Artomic aftermovie. On this occasion, the Retroverse’s committee were also pronounce dissolved by the headmaster, Mrs. Suci Wulandari.

With all members of the Retroverse present, the event started with the final evaluation of the event. Then, it was followed by eating together and the distribution of appreciation for participating in the event among the Retroverse’s committee. And during that time, the aftermovie was premiered as the students enjoy their meal together. The aftermovie displayed this year’s Artomic’s journey streching all the way back to its first event of the series, JABFC Retrophy to the main event, Retroverse night. Not only that, the aftermovie also consists a series of interviews and up-close(s) on the committees’s experiences, struggles, messages. The room’s atmosphere quickly turned warm and heartfelt as the aftermovie was playing, as the students recall and reminisce the last one year working together giving their blood, sweat, and tears for Artomic Retroverse 2024 and its events. The aftermovie provoke various of reactions and emotions from the Retroverse’s committee. Tears of joy, laughter, and chatters were heard all around the room.

To reveal a more-in depth experience, The Arc asked Fabiano ’25 as the Chief Organizer of Retroverse to describe his feelings during that day :

“Honestly, I didn’t understand my feelings yesterday, because before that it was quite hectic with finances and then going up… and confronted with the reality that… our Artomic is over, yeah, I could only smile and it lingered a bit in my head about the beginning of JABFC. And it was just like that, it’s kind of strange”.

The Arc also asked the Secretary of Retroverse 2024, Kimiko ’25 the same question :

“I was so happy with the dissolution event yesterday, but at the same time, I felt sad and touched because I didn’t expect that we would be done so quickly. But I was also happy and relieved because it finally ended and we also had delicious food. When I saw the aftermovie, I was also very proud of our achievements… who would have thought we would invite Reality Club, a capital city artist who has gone international. And from that aftermovie, I also realized that… this is really the result of our hard work, our solid teamwork, all our struggles that resulted in such amazing outcomes. I also appreciate all the committees who worked hard, because without the entrepreneurship division, we wouldn’t have made this much profit and finally, I could eat that delicious noodle wrap. Without the event documentation and decoration publication division, we wouldn’t have been this aesthetic, with such cool edits even though we slaughtered the deadline. Without the equipment team, surely we would all be worn out, because they were so amazing in helping to set up. Without the PR and event sponsors, our event surely wouldn’t have been as impressive and booming as yesterday. And I’m also very proud of the core team who were so solid, I’m honestly touched… from here I learned a lot and met new friends from just knowing their names at first but eventually becoming this close. A message to the next Artomic, I hope you can succeed, that your events can go smoothly, don’t forget to foster good cooperation and communication, (and hopefully you can invite Hivi!)”.

This year’s (2024) Artomic titled, “Retroverse” has really pull through in making an impression – a memorable and successful one. After a year of toasts and chants it has come to the final one. And for the last time, Retroverse has once again managed to create such a “party under the moonlight” thus passing its light to the next generation. Retroverse is signing out, see you on next year’s Artomic!
