On Sunday, August 17, 2025, the Indonesian people once again commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. Flag-raising ceremonies were held simultaneously across the entire nation, from the national level down to the regional level. Similarly, at Pembangunan Jaya Sidoarjo School, the commemoration began with a solemn flag-raising ceremony. All units from elementary school, junior high school, to senior high school lined up neatly and followed the ceremony procedures properly. After that, the enthusiastic atmosphere grew even more lively with various competitions such as estafet, gobak sodor, and student creativity contests, all participated in with great enthusiasm.
The competition activities to celebrate Indonesia’s special day have been prepared well in advance by the members of the OSIS-MPK Senior High School Pembangunan Jaya Sidoarjo. This time, the OSIS-MPK Senior High School Pembangunan Jaya is inviting junior high school units to join the competition alongside senior high school students. Groups consisting of several junior high school and senior high school students have been formed to participate in the competitions that have been carefully organized. Various fun competitions are available for students at senior high school Pembangunan Jaya Sidoarjo, such as traditional competitions and those that test creativity. One of them is the game of gobak sodor, which we call “Go Back To Door,” which always brings laughter due to the excitement and behavior of the participants. Additionally, there is the “monkey tail stepping” game, which encourages teamwork to avoid opponents and maintain their positions.
There was also a estafet games consisting of several games, namely eating crackers, marble relay, and putting pencils into bottles. All of these relay games must be played quickly and carefully in order to win. The cheers and laughter enlivened the Independence Day celebrations. Not to be forgotten, there was also an art creation competition in the form of a Fashion Show, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their talents and creativity. What made it special was that the event was divided by grade level, from 8th grade to 12th grade. This year’s Fashion Show featured the theme of traditional Indonesian attire combined with a recycling concept, thus not only showcasing cultural beauty but also conveying an important message about environmental awareness. Each competition was lively, watched and supported by enthusiastic cheers from fellow students.
The event concluded with the presentation of prizes to the winners of various competitions, such as relay races, monkey tail stepping, and gobak sodor. Additionally, a special nomination was awarded for the Fashion Show competition. The entire series of activities took place in a lively, joyful, and harmonious atmosphere. This celebration serves as a clear testament to the students’ enthusiasm in celebrating independence through creativity and unity. Happy 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia!
