Match of The Month : Boys Basketball First Friendly Match – A Win to Start The Year

On Thursday, February 15^th 2024, Pejaro Boys Basketball team won SMA Pembangunan Jaya Sidoarjo’s first basketball friendly match of the year. The team scored a total of 32 points across the four quarter, maintaining a safe lead against Al Muslim’s team.

At around 4:20 pm, white jerseys (Pejaro) were seen entering the court. Pejaro had a 20 minutes head start of warm up, and was later followed by arrival of the opposing team. After about roughly another 30 minutes of warm up, the starting whistle was blown at 5:20 pm. 

First shot of the game, was attempted by 08 (Navarro) of Pejaro. Meanwhile, the first two points of the game were marked by 44 from Al Muslim. However, it was then swiftly followed by a successful three point shoot by 18 (Arya) of Pejaro. After a free throw from Al Muslim, the first quarter ended with a tie.

Later in the game, Pejaro leads with almost double the points of the opposing team at the end of every quarter. With the majority of their winning points (15 out of 32) marked by 4 (Prins) of Pejaro, making him the Man of The Match. The final quarter ended with 32 – 23, resulted in the win of Pejaro against Al Muslim. 

This win sure does bring tons of hopes and spirits in starting this year. From this win, the students are hoping that Pejaro Boys Basketball team will have the chance to join more competition this year, compared to the last one.

Editor’s Spotlights & Commentaries : At every timeout and quarter breaks, editor noticed an incredibly distinct almost exact similarity between both team’s chant. It is indeed a very universal chant, but however seemingly something we need a work on. Editor is not at all an expert on sports, but here are a few players’s skills that stood out to the untrained eyes : player 44 of Al Muslim has a good sense of power, player 0 of Al Muslim has a special skill in bounce pass, player 18 of Pejaro is incredibly agile, player 88 of Pejaro seem to specialized in free throws, while player 12 of Pejaro specialized in rebounds and passes.
