On February 24 to 26, 2025, Pembangunan Jaya 2 High School held their annual program called PJ ILOP (Pembangunan Jaya Inbound Living and Observation Program). This year, the PJ ILOP activity was held in Segunung Traditional Village, Carangwulung Village, Wonosalam District, Jombang. For three days, the students had the opportunity to learn and interact directly with the village community. This activity is not only a learning event, but also strengthens the relationship between students and local residents.
One of the main programs in ILOP is the skills class, where students can choose their field of interest and learn directly taught by local residents. This year, there are four elective classes, namely the coffee class, where students learn coffee processing from grinding to roasting. Milk class where students are taught how to milk and process cow’s milk. Remo and Gamelan dance class where students are taught East Javanese dance and gamelan which will be performed at the peak of the event. Through these classes, students not only acquire new skills, but also learn to preserve local wisdom.
After the skills class, a social evening was held, where students and villagers were able to showcase their talents while completing the P5 (Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project). Students took turns to showcase their work. In this activity, students from the Remo dance and Gamelan skill classes also performed the results of their training which was certainly no less interesting. There is also a PJ Mengajar program, where students act as teachers for elementary to junior high school children in the village. They will teach the results of the P5 project (Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila) that they have made before, while playing games with the students there. Through this method, the village children are more enthusiastic about learning. In addition, as a form of gratitude to the village community, the school also held a social service in the form of selling cheap groceries, where the proceeds from the sale will be given back to local villagers.
However, this Ilop activity also faced challenges. Where heavy rain fell during the activity, causing some activities to be postponed or readjusted. Nonetheless, this rain taught students about the importance of adaptation, patience and cooperation in dealing with unexpected situations.
Overall, Ilop in Carangwulung Village has been a valuable experience for the students. They not only learned new skills but also learned about cooperation, social awareness, and how to face challenges. Although the weather hampered some of the activities, the whole event ran smoothly until the end. The students felt happy and sad when they left their lodging house, so – can’t wait for PJ ILOP next year!
