To celebrate Eid al-Fitr, SMA Pembangunan Jaya 2 once again held the culminating event of its annual Religion Fest. Religion Fest is an annual event held as a manifestation of tolerance, togetherness, and a celebration of the diverse religious cultures within the school community. The festival consisted of several activities, including an Interfaith Dialogue, Pacar Asa, and a closing ceremony.
The Interfaith Dialogue invited five speakers who discussed topics related to religion in everyday life. The discussion was carried out in a relaxed yet meaningful way, allowing each speaker to share perspectives based on the teachings of their respective religions. Through this dialogue, students were encouraged to build harmony, develop tolerance, and eliminate prejudice among religious communities through communication and mutual understanding. After the dialogue session, a takjil distribution and iftar (breaking of the fast) was held. The takjil was donated by the SMA Pembangunan Jaya 2 community and organized by the Student Council (OSIS-MPK).
This year’s Religion Fest culminated on March 13, 2026. Prior to the main event, students from each religion were encouraged to memorize holy scriptures and prepare performances related to their religious traditions. These performances were presented during the culmination event as a warm opening to the celebration. The performances varied, including the Thousand Hands Dance (Hindu-Buddhist), Sholawat, Islamic preaching (dakwah), Al-Banjari, sacred singing, and a vocal group performance. In addition, the film LIMA, which highlights the theme of religious tolerance, was also screened during the event. During the culmination, SMA Pembangunan Jaya 2 also made donations to orphans as a gesture of care and compassion during the holy month of Ramadan.
The event concluded with an iftar gathering attended by all members of SMA Pembangunan Jaya 2 Sidoarjo and the invited orphans. This day of togetherness reflected the values of compassion, gratitude, solidarity, and the spirit of sharing, while strengthening tolerance among students during the holy month of Ramadan. Through Religion Fest, it is hoped that all students will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of interfaith tolerance, foster mutual respect, and strengthen the sense of unity within the school community. Happy Ramadan and enjoy the Eid al-Fitr holiday. See you at the next Religion Fest!
